THE MID-ATLANTIC BLACK LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

The Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association ("MABLSA") is comprised of four sub-regions which are the DC/MD Sub-Region; Greater Philadelphia Sub-Region; PA/WV Sub-Region and VA Sub-Region.  MABLSA is a regional affiliate of the National Black Law Students Association (“NBLSA”), a student-run, national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of Black law students. NBLSA was founded in 1968 to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact their communities.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIR

Picture
Greetings MABLSA Family,

I hope this message finds you all well and in good spirits as we wade through this COVID-19 pandemic.

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for trusting me with the 2020-2021 Regional Chair position! Stepping out of the Director of Community Service position to step into the shoes of Regional Chair was not a step made without hesitation, careful thought, and constant encouragement from some immediate past MABSLA Regional board members. The plans and promises I made as Director of Community Service still holds true in this new position, just now we have a larger capacity to fulfill those goals, and a little more work to do.

With that said our MABLSA goals for the 2020-2021 Academic Year are simple:
  • Intentional Service
  • Sustainable Programming
  • Development Within the MABLSA Community
  • Improved Relations Between MABLSA Chapters and Local Communities
  • Regional Financial Progress

If these are goals that you feel that you can help accomplish, WE NEED YOU! There is still plenty of work to do! Come to the events, volunteer with our initiatives, promote our content, DONATE! Step into the shoes, walk the walk with us, and together we can wade whatever waters, pandemics, or anything else these upcoming years throw at us.

I look forward to serving with you, growing with you, and learning with you. Let’s make MABLSA the Region others wish to emulate.

Yours in MABLSA Service,
TyShawn N. Key
